Flywheel - Marble Machine X #46

In this episode i am assembling the massive Flywheel on the Marble Machine X! This is the timekeeper of the Marble Machine X and will be rotating quickly to gain a lot of moment of inertia to even out the power input from the crank and the treadle pedal. The Flywheel makes sure that the music flows nicely in an even rhythm. The flywheel is 30mm thick from solid mild steel. I didnt balance the wheel yet - partly because it was running quite true without doing anything but mostly because all things like that will happen when the first assembly of the whole mmx is done. To avoid spending time on things that are not strictly necessary. (I have learned this from Chris, the new project manager) The flywheel shaft is machined by Alex from the MMX team: Have a great day everyone, enjoy the video & All the best! Martin
