The Grasshopper Dance for Saint Urho

Skandia Folkdance Society of Seattle sponsors a dance every March to honor the Finnish Saint Urho who chased the grasshoppers out of the ancient Finnish grape crops. Katrilli Finnish Folkdancers of Seattle host this spectacular event with green and purple decorations, green and purple clad dancers, a contest, traditional Finnish music, and the Grasshopper Dance.
