A Day In Russia’s Most Depressing Town | Vorkuta 🇷🇺

Vorkuta is a coal-mining town in the Komi Republic, Russia, situated just north of the Arctic Circle. Although it is actually the fourth-largest city north of the Arctic Circle, this town is mostly known for the fact that it is slowly dying. After the fall of the Soviet Union, mines were privatized and many people began moving further south. Many of the mines had been abandoned and by September 2020, the estimated population was only about 50,000. That is down from 115,646 in 1989. ❗❗❗ I recently opened a Patreon at ❗❗❗ On Patreon, you will be able to enjoy extra content in the form of: - exclusive full-length videos from Russia and the Former Soviet Union - blooper scenes and funny moments - deleted scenes If that wasn’t enough, Vorkuta is also, interestingly, the coldest city in Europe: the record temperature low is -52 Celsius.
