For King & Country’s Worshipful “God Only Knows“ Performance at Epcot’s Eat to the Beat Concert

On July 31st, 2023, For King & Country delivered a powerful performance of their hit worship song “God Only Knows“ during their set at Epcot’s Eat to the Beat concert series. The Australian Christian pop duo had the crowd singing along in praise as they brought this meaningful track to life. Originally released in 2018 as part of their album Burn the Ships, “God Only Knows“ was written as a vertical worship song to connect listeners directly to God. As Joel Smallbone explained, the inspiration for the track came during a writers’ retreat in Montana. After taking time to disconnect from technology and be present in nature, he was struck by the realization that God alone understands the depth of our hearts. This sparked the idea for “God Only Knows“ as a prayer asking the Lord to search the innermost parts of our being. Joel collaborated with fellow writers Josh Kerr, Jordan Reynolds, and Tedd Tjornhom to bring the song to life. Centered on the chorus refrain “God only knows what you’ve been only knows what they say about only knows how it’s killing you, but there’s a kind of love that God only knows,“ the song speaks to the hurts we all carry deep inside. It became an emotional highlight of For King & Country’s live show, with colored lights casting a worshipful glow as the crowd sang along. Joel’s vulnerable vocals were filled with conviction while Luke provided supporting harmonies and guitar work. Performing “God Only Knows“ live at Epcot, For King & Country created a sense of community and catharsis for all those who related to its message. The band’s artful blend of pop, electronic, and rock elements elevated the worship experience for the audience. It was a special moment fans will treasure as the song took on new depths in a live setting. For King & Country continues to inspire with their songs of faith, perseverance, and devotion.
