Sharp blade interaction with the Viking shield

The performers in this video have decades of martial arts training under their belts, and the recorded actions have a clear focus on historical arms research. This publication is intended for educational purposes only. At a training event at Trelleborg Museum in Denmark in October 2022, we ran a couple of experiments with sharp weapons. In addition to test cutting, we particularly looked into interactions between sharp weapons and shields. In this video, my fellow swordsman Mikkel Mønsted and myself share some of our insights.
