Fractal

Fusion-jazz quartet Fractal brings inimitable sound to Joe’s Garage Fusing the musical offerings of the world with an unbridled and fun jazzy energy, Fractal is a fearlessly flavourful, and uniquely decadent dish for the ears. Groovy sax licks, coupled with searing-hot improvisation over free-forming soundscapes, define Fractal as a band whose highly original sound is simply inimitable. While Fractal’s sound may be tough to pigeonhole, the result is a dazzling fusion of Latin, Brazillian and African rhythms with jazz, blues and RB. The quartet brings together the always heartfelt and soulful island flavour of Tony Morrison on flute, and alto and tenor saxophones; renowned jazz-veteran, Roger Baird on drum-kit and Hang; Britt Bowman on six-string and fretless basses. Oscar Robles is on electric guitar and Chapman Stick, a relatively new instrument invented by Emmett Chapman in 1969; its design was developed specifically for the innovative technique of tap style playing.
