This video shows a Julia set as its parameter changes from -2 to . This corresponds to a line on the Mandelbrot set that cuts right through the centre along the real axis. When this parameter enters the Mandelbrot set, the interior of the Julia set can be seen (coloured green). The green colour abruptly disappears when the parameter emerges from the Mandelbrot set in “elephant valley“ and the set turns into dust.
