Iron Maiden — Space Truckin’ (Deep Purple cover)

“Space Truckin’“ is a song by the band Deep Purple, covered by Iron Maiden. It appears on the compilation “Re-Machined - A Tribute To Deep Purple’s Machine Head“ (2012). The song was recorded in the sessions for the album “A Matter Of Life And Death“ (2006) and was intended to be included as a B-Side on the single “Different World“, but it was not used. It wasn’t until 2012 that the song was released and included on Deep Purple’s 40th anniversary tribute album “Machine Head“. Bruce Dickinson commented on this: “Initially we didn’t think we’d be able to contribute anything due to our touring commitments. Then we remembered ’Space Truckin’’ which we’d recorded as a single B-side during our ’A Matter Of Life And Death’ album session, but never used. However now, thanks to Kevin Shirley’s remixing skills, we’re able to include it on ’Re-Machined’.“ — Cat
