Sir Keir Starmer faces his first PMQs as the prime minister today after he suspended seven left-wing Labour MPs for rebelling on the two-child benefit cap. Nominations for the Tory leadership open at 7pm and candidates have until Monday afternoon to get the backing of ten other MPs. About eight contenders are expected to announce they will stand for leadership over the coming days, with only James Cleverly, the former home and foreign secretary, confirmed so far.
