Wildfowl Trust Beware - Other Colour Pics Share This Title (1967)

Slimbridge, Gloucestershire. Various shots of birds at the Wildfowl Trust; flamingos, numerous types of ducks, geese, ducklings are seen in the water. Two workers catch a duck in a net so they can give it some eye drops. Workers Maureen Bower and Doctor John Beer catch a swan on a river; Maureen sprinkles powder on the swan’s head to prevent feather lice. Dr Matthews and Chris Beale fling a Mallard into the air in a field and watch it fly off through binoculars, making notes and checking a direction finder. This is part of their research into why most Mallards fly off in a north-westerly direction. They take another Mallard from a basket and tape a tiny electric bulb and battery pack to the leg of a Mallard before letting it fly off. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
