Baseball - Canadians V Americans (1916)

Baseball - Canadians V Americans - Lord Mayor attends, 1916. London Very good film of baseball game between Canadian soldiers and Americans in London; played on a field surrounded by rows of 4-story houses. Opens with shot of Lord Mayor; in top hat; etc. shaking hands with one of the players; then stands with audience in BG. Lord Mayor shakes with player from other team (his shirt says ’Epsom’ and has what looks like a maple leaf; Canadian symbol.) Lord Mayor; minus hat; throws out first ball. Side view of batter at the plate; with catcher behind him; batter gets a hit and runs; and another base runner comes in to home. Cut to another great shot: runner heading for base; as the baseman tries to catch the ball; the two nearly collide. Great fun stuff. Entertainment; recreation. Sports. G 396 B.
