Joey Negro & Gramophonedzie feat. Shea Soul - No Sugar

“No Sugar“ is a collaboration between legendary UK producer/DJ Joey Negro and Serbia’s Gramophonedzie. After searching high and low for a unique-sounding jazz-swing sample to use on their first tune together, they surprisingly came across the moody-but-sexy track ’Sugar Sugar’ on the soundcloud of unsigned future-jazz vocalist Shea Soul. The tune, an authentic retro jazz swing ditty, fitted the bill perfectly for the chorus-drop of the new record so they sampled it. Add a fierce uptempo “Count Basie meets Chicago house“ groove and the ultra-catchy dance tune ’No Sugar’ was born. ’No Sugar’ leaps out of the speakers with energetic big band brass and an infectious scat before dropping into pure 50’s-style swing showcasing Shea’s delightful vocals as she tells us that her man “Won’t get no sugar if he treats her bad“.
