Playdate hands-on: Indie handheld made for indie games

We first saw the indie handheld Playdate back in 2019. The pandemic and supply issues delayed the device, made by Mac software makers Panic along with Teenage Engineering, but it’s finally nearing release. This is a truly niche device, a small game-boy-esque console based around a crank, that will sell for $179, and come with a steady stream of 24 indie games, releasing 2 a week, with a possibility of future “seasons“.
