Barbatos (France) — Les Trompettes Sonnent la Guerre — 2022 full length

The second album of this solo French act. This artist likes to play around black metal and dungeon synth. However, this record is solely black metal, unlike his first album and a few other records that delve in both, however here he still inserts some neofolk intermissions and very occasional heavy metal passages, enhancing the harmonies even further. Nonetheless, this album features a quite raw and chaotic black metal which is his trademark, also seen on previous records. The over harmonious and fluent guitar performance is the thing that shines the most, and while it is great in the full black metal sections, it is on those few neofolk breaks that leave me speechless. The last demo,Temps Sombre, already showed this level of commitment to the black arts, but as a full length record, this is his best without a doubt.
