How Recycled Plastic Carabiners Are Made

We’re working through some big production on our brand new carabiner design. This colourway is called ‘Tropical Whirlpool’ and is made up of green and blue milk bottle tops and white actimel bottles. This mix needs around 10 minutes to fully soften before we can inject the plastic into the mould. The mould get warmed in the oven to help the plastic flow nicely. This only needs to happen on the first few injections of the day, because the hot plastic keeps the mould warm for subsequent injections. After 10 minutes, we can clamp the mould in place and inject the plastic by turning the wheel. The aluminium cools the product almost instantly, so we can de-mould straight away. One quick skip to trim the sprue off and we have a finished product. Perfect for hanging on your water bottle or keys! ➡️ Buy here: We make these in our whole range of 9 custom colours. What colour shall we do next? ♻️ #eco
