Views along the Murmansk Railway in 1915

Here I present a photographic journey taken by the pioneering Russian Photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii in 1915. The journey was along the St. Petersburg to Murmansk Railway being constructed at the time. The journey begins near Lake Lagoda and finishes at the Solovetskii Island in the White Sea. Photographs taken not only of the railway, the stations and the towns & villages passed, but also the POW camps housing Austrian servicemen as the war with Russia was at its height...........
