First Flights in the Chinook Plus 2

My friend Owen and I recently purchased a plane. I have a private pilot’s licence but I haven’t flown in many years and Owen is just starting out. We’ve hired Jack a fantastic flight instructor so Owen can get his licence and to help me knock the rust off. Here is a quick video of our first flights in our new (to us) plane. About the plane: It’s a Chinook Plus 2 with a two stroke 65hp liquid cooled Rotax 582 DCDI (dual carb, dual ignition) engine designed specifically for amateur built aircraft. It takes off in about 200 feet (one occupant) and lands in about 400 feet. (I got it off the ground in 340 feet with the flight instructor with me and full fuel and we weren’t even trying) It cruises at 75 mph (120 km/h) and burns 3.5 gallons (13 litres) per hour. It carries 10 gallons (37 litres) of car gas giving it a range of just under 200 miles (300 kms). It weighs 460 lbs empty and 525 lbs with full fuel and oil.
