The People’s Republic of the Congo is a socialist state that existed in Africa on the territory of the modern Republic of the Congo (not to be confused with the Democratic Republic of the Congo) at the end of the 20th century. It was proclaimed in 1970 after a coup in Brazzaville organized by Marian Nugabi. In a short time period, a powerful command economy was organized in the country, based on mining (mainly oil and copper), timber industry and maritime trade. In 1991, as a result of democratic reforms, the ruling Congolese Labor Party (CPT) was liquidated, and the state was transformed into the modern Republic of the Congo. The anthem of the People’s Republic of the Congo was the song “Les Trois Glorieuses“ (Russian: “Three Glorious“), written in France during the July Revolution.
