Layo & Bushwacka! (2002) Performance live at TMF Live | The Music Factory
Layo & Bushwacka! is a British DJ duo formed by Layo Paskin and Matthew Benjamin, known for their contributions to the tech house genre with four albums released between 1998 and 2012. Paskin, a London native, started his DJ career at sixteen and was involved in the early warehouse party scene alongside Mr. C. His discovery of a 19th-century stable led to the creation of The End, a notable London nightclub co-owned with Mr. C and designed by Paskin’s architect father. The music of Layo & Bushwacka! spans tech house, house, and breakbeat. After his music career, Paskin transitioned into hospitality, opening several acclaimed venues in central London with his sister Zoë, including The Palomar and The Barbary, among others.
Matthew Benjamin, also from London, gained recognition for his remix of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.“ With a background in percussion as part of the London School Symphony Orchestra and a degree in sound engineering, Benjamin became the resident DJ at The End, where he met Paskin, marking the beginning of their collaboration as Layo & Bushwacka!.
