🔘Matakopas was an American Heavy/Power Metal quartet, formed in Rome, New York in 1985. Their only release was the 1987 album “Coming Out Ahead“, released by World Records. Due to its rarity it has become a sought after item in metal collecting circles. Matakopas’ sound here is a mix of influences with the aforementioned, with some NWOBHMish overtones at times (particularly Shane Parry’s vocals, whose style is not normal for a USPM). Matakopas has that cool, murky, melodic American power guitar tone to many of their tracks, which educated listeners will recognize from bands like Cities. The first track quickly establishes this outline and, in doing so, establishes itself as part of the same subset of American heavy/power bands with a somewhat commercially tinged, highly melodic, charged, yet often solemn style. _TRACKLIST_ 1.
