Omar Rudberg, AKA Simon from hit Netflix TV show, ’Young Royals’ joins my podcast, ’Reign with Josh Smith’ to talk about how the show has enabled him to find a greater love for himself and embrace his body image. In case you are new to the ‘Young Royals’ hype (lucky YOU, you have two epic seasons to binge for the very first time) the Swedish Netflix TV show follows Prince Wilhelm, played by Edvin Ryding (head to the previous episode to watch/listen to him!) as he meets a new love interest, Simon when he is sent to boarding school. It is the LGBTQIA show we have long needed on our screens and it’s no wonder so many people have fallen in love with the show - myself included! In this teaser Omar talks about how the show has enabled him to embrace himself, find self love, feel more comfortable in his own skin and find a greater confidence in his body image. And he shares just how special his onscreen bond is with Edvin Ryding offscreen. It turns out they are so comfortable with each other now, Omar is not afraid to call out coffee breath in kissing scenes. Elsewhere in the full podcast episode Omar talks about THAT coming out scene at the end of ’Young Royals’ season two and shares some great words about breaking down the stereotypes surrounding masculinity, his journey with his mental health. But as someone who has always had an up and down relationship with my own body image, Omar’s honesty on body image really stuck with me.
