Could I Play Bass With Plini? Electric Sunrise

The “Could I Play Bass With“ series continues its journey with Australian guitarist and composer, Plini. It was a fantastic experience for both my ears and fingers to attempt picking up this song in under 30 minutes. Not only did it challenge my technical abilities, but it also pushed me to play in a tuning I’m not accustomed to, with the E-string tuned down to Db after the chordal intro. Speaking of the chordal intro, in this series, I always seek a moment to infuse something original—much like what I might have done if I were in the studio recording the song or present during the writing process. Reharmonization stands out as one of my favorite aspects as an improvising musician and composer. When faced with something as open as a single repeated note, the possibilities are nearly limitless for molding the music in different directions.
