Mircea cel Bătrân - (Romanian Old Folk About Mircea the Elder)

The music has a strong Byzantine influence. The song appeared in the 19th century before the Unification of the Principalities. Anton Pann was a Romanian poet (Aromanian origin), teacher of religious music, composer of religious music, folklorist and writer. He is also the composer of the music for the national anthem of Romania (Deșteaptă-te, române!) Mircea the Elder was the Ruler of Wallachia in the 14th century and at the beginning of the 15th century, 1386-1395 and 1397-1418. During his Reign, Wallachia reached its greatest extent. It controled the regions: Muntenia, Oltenia, Dobruja, parts of Transylvania, parts of southern Bessarabia and Timok Valley (part of Serbia nowdays). ●▬▬
