The slowly emerging winter sun. This unique five note morning Raag caries the mood of Bhakti (Devotion) and Karuna (Compassion).With it’s restless Re and Dha komal, Gunkali embodies an austere combination of mystical awe, discipline and sensitivity; a distinct part of the Bhairav family of Raags. An Alap is the patient unfolding of a Raag, sung or played before the rhythm and composition are present; this style is practice mostly in the Dhrupad genre.
